Auron by Patricius

02-06-2013: The papercraft cool guy in the picture above is of course Auron, from Final Fantasy X!

He was built by Patricius Jason, who did a great job I must say! ;o)

And if you look closely, you can just make out a papercraft Blaziken Pokémon on Auron’s right too, from the PaperPokés website!

Patricius did a great job on that one too, and if you want to see for yourself you can visit Patricius’ DeviantArt gallery here or have a look at his Twitter gallery here!

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

Keyblade Danbo by Sabi3293

25-04-2013: Look at this cute little papercraft scene built by Sabine from Germany: it’s the cute little cardboard robot “Danbo“, wanting to be a Keyblade wielding hero like Sora from Kingdom Hearts! ;o)

My own papercraft Sora that Danbo got the Keyblade from to play with can be found here, and Danbo himself is a character from the Japanese manga “Yotsuba&!

The cute cardboard robot made his appearance in chapter 12 of the manga and quickly became very popular on the internet, and many people have made their own papercraft version of him!

Sabine says she can’t remember exactly where she got the moveable papercraft Danbo that she built, but she thinks it might be the one made by yuiiwae, who you can find on DeviantArt here: link

And while you’re on DeviantArt, have a look at the other papercraft models that Sabine built in her own gallery, and of course her polymer clay figures and other artwork too: link ;o)

Thank you for letting Danbo play with a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model! ;o)

Young princess Zelda by DanteSagittariKnight

21-04-2013: This wonderful version of young princess Zelda was built by DanteSagittariKnight from Chile!

Even though the picture is a bit dark, you can see how DanteSagittariKnight chose not to make sharp folds of all the fold lines on the templates.

As a result, you get a papercraft princess Zelda that’s a bit more smoother looking, and I think it looks great! ;o)

If you want to see more great things, you can visit DanteSagittariKnight’s DeviantArt gallery, where you can see several other papercraft models that he built, and also the drawings he made: link

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

Tomb Raider Legend Lara Croft by Lullaby Blue

19-04-2013: Lullaby Blue kept me up to date (picture 1 | picture 2) on his progress as he was building the papercraft Tomb Raider Legend Lara Croft, and here it is finished! ;o)

To build his paper Lara, he used 120 gsm and the result looks really great as you can see for yourself: picture 3 | picture 4 | picture 5

Just look at how perfectly Lullaby Blue made Lara’s head: picture

I think you’ll agree he really did a fantastic job, and he can be really proud of his papercraft Lara! ;o)

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

Going Merry family by KiwiK

12-04-2013: Looking at the picture above, it seems like KiwiK is working on building a whole fleet of papercraft One Piece boats and Strawhat Pirates crew! ;o)

In the picture you can see:

  • my own papercraft “Going Merry” (link)
  • the “Mini Merry II” by chiohunpp (link)
  • the bigger “Going Merry” from Paper-Replika (part 1 | part 2 | part 3)
  • scaled down versions of Usopp, Nico Robin, Luffy and Roronoa Zoro (not available from the original site anymore, unfortunately: link :o(
  • Nami paper toy Cubee from Muranaka (link)
  • Tony Tony Chopper paper toy from Kobico (link)

Obviously, Paper-Replika’s “Going Merry” isn’t finished yet, but KiwiK seems to be a big One Piece fan, so I don’t think that will take very long! ;o)

Here’s another picture of my own papercraft “Going Merry” together with chiohunpp’s “Mini Merry II“: picture 2

And here you can see some of the more detailed parts of the “Going Merry“: picture 3

And if you’re still not done admiring KiwiK’s papercraft builds, you can visit their DeviantArt gallery too, with even more papercraft models: link

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ (and other peoples’! ;o) papercraft models!

“Going Merry” by Ioana

08-03-2013: You can tell Ioana really loves the “Going Merry”, because she took the time and effort to do such a great job to build this papercraft version!

In the end, it took her about 20 hours, but in her own words, it was “totally worth it”! ;o)

The “Going Merry” that Ioana built is the repainted version by chiohunpp and as you can see in the second picture, she even made the rigging for the mast from a real piece of string: picture 2

If you want to see some more pictures of Iona’s papercraft “Going Merry” and also her origami and other artworks, have a look at her own sites here:

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

“Going Merry” by SayanMk

13-02-2012: This wonderful One Piece “Going Merry” boat was built by SayanMk!

If you look closely, you can see a little secret: because SayanMk didn’t have a colour printer, he printed the parts in black and white, and then coloured all the parts by hand with colour pencils!

I think it looks really great and SayanMk is really proud of it, because it was the first complicated paper model he built!

You can see many more pictures of the process in SayanMk’s Picasa’s album: link

Since then, SayanMk has also built other the papercraft “Mini Merry” (link) and the “Thousand Sunny” (link).

He used the same technique of printing the parts in black and white and then colouring them with colour pencils as he did on the “Going Merry“.

You can find a picture of the three ships here, but SayanMk also made an extensive post about it on his own website with a lot more pictures, which is definately worth checking out: link

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

LEGO Pirate Captain Redbeard by Jon Leslie

02-04-2011: When some people build a paper model, they really go all the way. And Jonathan Leslie is such a person. :o)

Earlier, Jonathan Leslie already did an absolutely amazing job building the “Going Merry”, and now he also made my LEGO pirate Captain Redbeard!

Where do I start? The reason why it’s so shiny for instance, is because he coated the model with “Mod Podge” as a clear finish: picture

He also reinforced all the hollow parts with tissues soaked in glue: when the glue dries, the tissues will become hard and form a sort of honeycomb structure inside the parts: picture

That way, hopefully it will have a better chance of surviving when being played with by young kids! ;o)

You already noticed the feather plume, of course: I didn’t include one in the paper model, but Jon made one out of pipe cleaners: picture

And last but not least: Jon went on Bricklink and got himself a real LEGO Redbeard minifig!

He made a (not-so-secret ;o) compartment for it in the back of the leg (he even had to made extra room for the feather): picture 1 | picture 2

Like he did with the “Going Merry”, Jon made a great build page again with lots more pictures of the techniques he used: link

So there you have it: an excellent customized version of Captain Redbeard (a.k.a. Kapitein Knoest)!

25-09-2006: Jonathan Leslie is what you call a “space enthustiac”. He has his own website, The Lower Hudson Valley Paper Model Giftshop, where you can download a lot of nice science fiction and space papercrafts (it’s also the d/l mirror for the Defiant redraw).

Jon has a lot of experience building all kinds of paper models, and this time he built the “Going Merry”!

The rigging is made by soaking thread with “cyanoacrylate glue”. This hardens the threads and bonds them together, as you can see in his “Going Merry” WIP pictures.

Thank you for building these Ninjatoes’ papercraft models!

“Going Merry” by Anna Blume

02-10-2010: Anna, from Gent (Belgium) already built this “Going Merry” “ages ago” but only now sent me the pictures for the hall of fame.

The “Going Merry” is a small and challenging model, but Anna is a patient builder and with the support of Henk, she did a very good job I think!

Here are two more pictures in close-up: picture 2picture 3

If you want to see the many other paper models that Anna and Henk built, you should check out their gallery at Nice Paper Toys: link

But there’s more! They love paper toys so much, that they also made a download package of original and adapted paper toys for *you* to build from this webpage! ;o)

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

Epona, wolf Link & “Going Merry” by Nizier

16-06-2010: Today, I received a whole bunch of pictures from 18 year old Nizier from France!

He made several papercraft models as gifts for friends, and the first one was wolf Link. It was difficult to make, but Nizier tells me he really liked it, so I’m glad to hear that! ;o)

I think Nizier’s second papercraft gift was to either a Zelda fan or to a horse lover (or both, of course ;o) because it is Link’s trusty horse Epona: picture 1| picture 2picture 3

And the third one was the “Going Merry”, which is also a pretty difficult model because it has many small parts: picture 1 | picture 2 | picture 3

It’s easy to see that Nizier spent a lot of time and care on these gifts, and his friends were very happy to recieve them!

Thank you for building these Ninjatoes’ papercraft models!

“Going Merry” by Xu for Sun Joanna

25-03-2010: It took Xu three days during her spring break to build this “Going Merry” for her friend Sun Joanna (Wise). I wish I had friends like that! ;o)

She included an Usopp figurine from Megahouse in the picture to give you an indication of how small the ship really is; the figurine is only about one inch tall!

Needless to say I think, that Joanna enjoyed the gift very much! ;o)

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece’s “Going Merry” by Jeroen

16-03-2010: While Usopp wonders why the “Going Merry” is suddenly so small, we all know that’s because it’s a papercraft version built by Jeroen from the Netherlands!

He sends me a whole bunch of nice pictures from his build, and tells me he made it twice as big as my original version. And as you can also see, he made the rigging out of real ropes and added an extra line to the bow of the ship.

He did a really great job building it, and the extra effort he put into it makes his build look really great!

Here are some more pictures for you to marvel at: ;o)

One Piece “Going Merry” by Aya

10-10-2009: Aya from the Philippines tells me she has become addicted to watching/reading One Piece, and building papercraft models

And now she has combined her addictions!

Aya made this “Going Merry” within a week, but she has also done some other ones which you can see in her DeviantArt gallery: solitary-Aya

Thank you for downloading and building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Joanna James

17-08-2008: Joanna James from Malaysia built this “Going Merry” for her boyfriend, who is a big fan of the One Piece anime.

It’s a very nice thing to do, because he doesn’t have the time to do it himself – and he’s just not very good at building stuff (her words, not mine! ;o)

It’s the third paper model she made for him as a gift, and this one took her three days. I’m sure he appreciates any gift from his girlfriend, but maybe this one even more!

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Ryan Lefever

22-04-2008: After several Zelda submissions, the “Going Merry” still proves to be a favourite of many papercrafters.

This one was built by Ryan Lefever from Iowa, USA. He likes to build paper models after work every day, which is a nice and relaxing pastime.

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

Young Link & One Piece “Going Merry” by Haywan Chiu

17-08-2008:  like many others, Haywan Chiu’s enthusiasm has only grown and he has made a nice website of his own called PaperCraft Museum; be sure to pay a visit!

28-11-2007: young Link is still the most popular of all my paper models, with the “Going Merry” coming in second. Why I’m mentioning this? Because he built that one as well: picture

15-11-2007: This paper Link was built by Haywan Chiu in 16 hours, using a quick-drying tacky glue and his mother’s tiny tweezers for some of the small parts. We all use what we have handy. ;o)

Thank you for building these Ninjatoes’ papercraft models!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Michael James

03-09-2007: Michael James sent me this picture; it’s not the first paper model he built (you can some of his other work here) but naturally, this one is his best, don’t you agree? ;o)

You might know Michael from his two blogs, where he collects links to other paper model sites: Papercraft Paradise and Gundam and Robot Anime. Maybe you even found my site through there? ;o)

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Bee

25-06-2007: “Sawasdee krub”, or: hello there! It had been a while since anybody sent me a picture of their “Going Merry” so I guess it was due again. ;o)

One Piece still is a very popular anime, in Thailand as well: Bee sent me this picture of the “Going Merry” he built in front of a Thai One Piece comic.

It took him two months, and I think he did a great job! Here’s another picture.

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Cecilia Sanchez Alanis

07-06-2006: One Piece seems to be an immensely popular anime: the “Going Merry” is also the model that people send in for my hall of fame the most.

This one was built by Cecilia Sanchez Alanis from Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Here’s another picture and here’s an even more detailed view. I really like the pictures because they show how an ordinary piece of blue plastic makes for an excellent sea!

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Flynn

01-11-2006: You know, I seem to get a lot of e-mails lately from natural papercraft talents. I myself started off with some very simple paper models and slowly developed the skills to make more sophisticated models.

But take Flynn for instance; his first papercraft was a simple car, but for his second papercraft, he chose my “Going Merry”. Not the simplest model available for free on the web, but he did a very nice job as you can see in this second picture.

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!!

One Piece “Going Merry” by The Webdude

11-09-2005: The Webdude from Tenessee, USA has built this scaled up version of the “Going Merry”! Why did he scale it up, you ask? Well, he is planning to make a neat island base for it with a few other One Piece paper models which I can’t wait to see!

In the meantime, be sure to check out his own papercraft website, The Webdude’s Free Papercraft, and don’t forget to take a look at the other pictures: picture 2 | picture 3.

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Jeffery Nguyen

29-06-2005: This “Going Merry” is by Jeffery Nguyen from Texas, USA. In this picture, you can see how small the model actually is. Here are two more pictures: picture 2 | picture 3.

The transparant parts for the rigging are made from a simple food wrapper with some clear tape over it to prevent smudging from the felt tip lines as a cheap alternative for a printable transparant sheet. Smart thinking Jeffery!

Thank you for building a Ninjatoes’ papercraft model!

One Piece “Going Merry” by Ken Moore

30-04-2005: This is the “Going Merry” by Ken Moore from Ohio, USA. He had the idea that with a few modifications, it could be used for a tabletop pirate game.

The 15 mm skeleton crew is from Jim Hartman’s entry for the Paper Worlds Miniatures in Paper contest 1: Pirates and Ships. You can get them from Jim’s site: OneMonk.

One Piece “Going Merry” by Carlos Roberto Liberato

25-08-2004: the first contribution to Ninjatoes’ hall of fame! The “Going Merry” by Carlos Roberto Liberato from Brazil. Here are some more pictures: picture 2 | picture 3.

The sea-baseplate that Carlos created, can be downloaded here (178 kB ZIP file). He also used to have papercraft website of his own, FAB in Paper, an archived version of which you can still visit by clicking here.
